BLACKMORE VALE CYCLING CLUB

ABOUT US

Our Club has evolved over the last 16 years: from a new Section in the Wessex District Association of CTC, instigated by Richard and Margaret Nicholl, into its current status as an independent Cycling Club. We have weekly rides, weekly coffee meets, and social events for members and their families. The Club is now established, successful and thriving.

The heart of the Club is the cycling.  Our members live in an area extending from Glastonbury and Wells, to Shaftesbury, south towards Blandford and across towards Yeovil. This wide geographical spread enables us to have superb cycling lanes, throughout Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, with occasional forays into Hampshire or Devon. In the summer we even ride to the coast. Rides are led by members who know their area well, providing a range of varied starting points. This offers new opportunities which ever part of our catchment you live in. Longer rides for some or car assisted if you wish.

Every summer we have a holiday, organised by one of our group.

We welcome new members, and recommend coming to a Tuesday Coffee meet if you would like to hear in more detail what we do. Our rides are shared at a steady pace on the flat approximately 12 mph, and on hills, at each individuals own pace, re-grouping at the top. Some of our members ride with other nearby Clubs, and we have close links with Gillingham Wheelers and Yeovil CC for those who like to stretch themselves!

Contact details are provided on the website if you would like to join us.

Also details regarding insurance and safety matters.

We are a friendly, positive group, many retired but not all, keeping fit and healthy, enjoying the beautiful places where we live.
