The forecast was bad and the weather was indeed bad! I‘d been warned that quite a few members would not be out cycling today so I hoped maybe 6 – 10 people would be out. I mean, for those of you who know me, I really don’t do the cooking/baking/entertaining bit (apart from discos!). Saturday morning saw me ... ME!! cutting up vegetables and making REAL soup. Not stuff out of a can. Anyway, I‘d made a bit of effort and bought fresh rolls. So, meanwhile back at Hillbrush, Mere at 10 am this morning and there were two cyclists, Charlie and Mike P. Mary was already booked in for lunch with another club and so was never coming on the ride, though she had cycled with me to the start.
Mary, being Mary, did cycle as far as Lawn Crossroads, then returning to have early lunch. Charlie, Mike and I carried on up towards East Knoyle where Mike carried on up the hill, not realising I wanted to turn right at Underhill. He was reprimanded, after I had to briefly re route, and he behaved in an exemplary manner after that !!
There isn’t really anything else to say other than it was very wet and windy and our route took us via Hindon, Fonthill Lakes, Tisbury, Ansty and Charlton.
I would have liked to carry on cycling as I haven’t done my 100 miles this week, but I had to go and rehearse for this evening’s orchestral concert, so Charlie and Mike left at 2pm to return to Stalbridge. Thanks for your company lads! I enjoyed our ride.
